Looking for a talented herd manager or 2IC to join our team in the Bay of Plenty, 40 mins from Rotorua and Whakatane, and 1 hour 15 mins from Taupo and Tauranga. We have a position available unexpectedly and are looking for someone who can fill this role. We would like someone who is looking long-term as there is opportunity to grow within our business. Must have an eye for detail and operate to a high standard, enjoy working in a team of people from all walks of life.
Responsibilities:
Milking cows through a 36 aside herringbone shed.
Looking after young stock as well as general farm duties.
Tractor work experience required - confident and able to work independently.
Cows health and wellbeing, recording of sick and treatments of cows.
Mastitis prevention, pasture management skills.
Support, encourage and manage fellow team members.
Proactively deal with general farm maintenance, such as fencing and spraying.
Safely and competently operate a range of farm machinery.
Regularly check and maintain farm machinery as per the maintenance schedule.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a driver's license.
Minimum of 3 years experience in dairy farming in NZ.
Drug-free and willing to undergo a drug test if required.
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
Excellent pasture management skills.
Ability to manage a team of staff.
