We need you to translate real world surveying problems into the future design of our technology .you don't need to know code or learn it.
This role is about understanding what Trimble users need and helping make it happen - by working on the problems with engineers and testing the solution.
In this role you will be at the cutting edge of surveying technology, working in the office and the field using the full range of Trimble software and hardware. .
What You Will Do As an Application specialist in our Christchurch-based development team, you will work with customers, distribution partners and product managers to understand the evolving requirements of surveyors and the geospatial industry, and work with software developers in getting those requirements fulfilled.
We identify real world problems in the realms of land surveying and civil engineering and we work to solve them with our industry leading technology.
Trimble Access is the world's leading data collection software for land surveyors and civil engineers. Our customers build roads, railways, tunnels, bridges and buildings.
They subdivide land and locate underground utilities. As a strategic member of buildingSMART international, Trimble is at the forefront of digital transformation of the construction industry.
Trimble Access is the hub of the surveyors workflow and as such you will work with the latest GNSS receivers, total stations, and office and cloud-based Trimble software.
We need your lived industry experience in surveying / civil construction / mining. We need your knowledge of what works in practice and what doesn't.
You'll be the conduit between translating our customer needs into the development of our Trimble Access workflows.
Surely you must need to know code? Nope .its not necessary and you aren't required to learn it for this role.
You'll be responsible for : Interpretation of high-level marketing requirements into detailed user-centric specifications suitable for development purposes.
Day to day liaison with development staff. Testing software and hardware in the office and the field to ensure we release high quality products that meet our customers needs.
Assist with end user documentation and on-line help.
Drafting of release materials such as Product Bulletins and Technical Notes
Input and assistance on released product issues
Input into marketing materials as required by the product management.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
A tertiary qualification in surveying or related geospatial field
Experience working as a surveyor or professional in the geospatial industry preferred but not required
Problem solving skill - demonstrating an agile approach to challenges
A proactive and deliberate mindset
Clear and concise communication
Confidence working as part of a team with diverse backgrounds and skills
Comfortable learning to use new technologies - both software and hardware
