We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Advisor, Finance, Property & Procurement to join Te Puni Kokiri, bringing specialist knowledge and experience to support us with our key aims. Te whai wahitanga | The opportunity Based in Poneke | Wellington, the Finance, Property and Procurement Directorate has six key functions providing high level, specialised advice and support across Te Puni Kokiri. The Principal Advisor supports this mahi through: Providing strategic, accurate advice and support to the General Manager, Finance, Property and Procurement Contributing towards reporting for our Executive Leadership Team Coaching and mentoring other kaimahi to increase their knowledge and grow their skill set Leading and managing projects, including risk analysis and reporting requirements Providing timely support for Official Information Act, Parliamentary Questions and other requests for information when required. Minimum Requirements As an experienced advisor, you bring specialist knowledge including leading budget processes, cost savings analysis and value add to your next position. Politically savvy, you can easily adapt to change, and the pressures that come with the position. We are looking for: Understanding of and proven experience with the machinery of government, public sector processes and reporting requirements Leading budget and procurement processes, advising executive leadership and supporting a Chief Financial Officer, General Manager Finance or similar. Project management experience, including planning and methodologies Have a broad understanding of key legislation as it relates to policy advice and decision making, and knowledge of the key legislation mentioned in the position description Possess the initiative, desire to succeed and continually learn, and clear, succinct communication, influencing and persuasion skills required of the position Strong relationship skills, including stakeholder engagement and management Are comfortable in an ao Maori environment and are comfortable in situations where tikanga is observed - A level of competency in te reo Maori, or a willingness to learn.
