Our Opportunity:
Based in Hamilton, this is a key role in our organisation for someone with a strong data product mindset who can bring a balance across two functions:

The Analyst - the curiosity to understand the underlying business processes and to explore the associated data ensuring pipelines and models meet the business need.
The Engineer - a product mindset bringing high quality engineering practices to all aspects of data processing for the data solutions we build and maintain.

In this role, you'll be part of the cross functional 'Generation and Trading' squad working on one of Mercury's core data platforms which provides data used by our Trading and Wholesale Markets teams for trading, reporting and analytical modelling. This platform is also used by multiple stakeholders across Generation and Finance to perform their own analytics and reporting functions.
Mercury has many projects in the pipeline expanding our renewable energy portfolio across hydro, geothermal wind as well as looking at other exciting opportunities to optimise how energy is produced and consumed across our portfolio of products, which all result in additional data requirements.
We're looking for someone with a curious mindset as you'll also be instrumental in updating our current platform, introducing new technology and practices to ensure that we make high quality data available to stakeholders across the business.
Mercury operates in a hybrid flexible working environment where you can combine working from home with working from our sites and offices to collaborate with stakeholders (approximately three days office/site based).

We are looking for:

Tertiary or similar qualification in a Data and Analytics, Software Engineering and/or Technology discipline.
4+ years of experience in a commercial environment with at least 3 of those years in a Data and Analytics role.
Experience operating in an Analyst function (or role) - For example Business Analyst, Insights Analyst, Commercial Analyst.
Knowledge of the Energy Industry (Retail and/or Generation) would be advantageous.
Strong Data Modelling experience and foundational understanding (3NF, Data-Vault, Dimensional).
Strength in the SQL and T-SQL with experience or exposure in Python or DBT being advantageous.
