Allied Health Assistant - Wahi Tautoko | Hillmorton Hospital 2x Permanent, full-time opportunities Level 3 and 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate desired. Mo te tunga - About the role This is an exciting opportunity for an allied health assistant to support the opening of, and to provide ongoing support into Wahi Tautoko (previously Tupuna). Wahi Tautoko is part of the Adult Inpatient Group (AIG) which encompasses four acute inpatient units (Te Awakura) and two extended treatment units.
This role will be based in Wahi Tautoko, a 10 bedded unit, that will support Tangata whaiora between the ages of 18 - 65 who require extended assessment or treatment following an admission to the acute inpatient service prior to discharge.
The goals of this multi-disciplinary staffed service are:
Provision of a safe and supportive environment to provide extended assessment, treatment and rehabilitation following an admission to the adult acute service. Teaching skills to help support illness management and to support consumers to live the life they want to live. Support development of structure and meaningful routines. Support safe discharge into a community setting. This role will find you working under the direction and delegation of the allied health staff as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. You will be involved in a range of activities including supporting the therapeutic activity programme in both group and individual sessions. You will assist the allied health staff with a variety of tasks that support consumer discharge, community integration and promote a positive consumer experience while on the ward. There will be some activity group facilitation involved, so experience in this area would be beneficial.
Level 3 and 4 Health and Wellbeing Certificate desired or willing to work towards. A full driver's license is required. Fantastic organization skills and the ability to learn quickly. Ability to communicate and build relationships with people from all walks of life. A kind and compassionate nature. A strong work ethic is an integral part of this role. Confidence in supporting consumers to engage in activity. Good knowledge and support for the integration of Tikanga Maori within an inpatient setting.
