The core purpose of this role is to activate civic participation across Te Tairawhiti (Gisborne) and surrounding areas.
You will be required to build and support relationships that enable and empower groups of diverse communities to understand, engage and participate in the democratic system including Local Body and General Elections.
This role is a work from home opportunity with the potential to co-locate to an Electoral Commission's Head Quarters during the General Elections period when and if required.
This is a Grade 16 role with a Salary band of $85,453 - $94,948.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and foster relationships through internal and external engagement Effectively and efficiently respond to public and media enquiries Support the delivery of electoral events Engage with local community champions Practice a continuous improvement approach Contribute to the effectiveness and achievement of team goals This role will be key in maintaining and developing community partnerships with communities and organisations.
Mohou ake | About you You will have a good understanding of both te reo Maori and tikanga Maori with a willingness to grow and weave this knowledge into your work.
The ability to korero Maori will be an advantage.
You will be an engagement practitioner with strong connections across Tairawhiti and beyond.
You will build and maintain reciprocal relationships with Tangata Whenua and other diverse communities.
You will participate in scoping, developing, implementing, and reporting on localised impactful community campaigns and activations.
You will utilise your can-do attitude to identify and respond to challenges and risks as they arise, work collaboratively with others in the Strategic Engagement and Partnerships team and actively contribute to all training and learning opportunities.
Experience working remotely is preferred but not essential.
To be successful in this role you need the following: Experience in developing and delivering community engagement initiatives across communities and regions Demonstrated connections with one or more of the Commission's priority communities Ability to build knowledge of community and required networks Experience in the delivery of operational policies and procedures based on legislation Ability to work effectively and independently under pressure to meet deadlines Professional and results-oriented approach with good business and customer focus Strong connections within specific communities.
