Youth Development Leader (Kiwi Kaha)

Details of the offer

Graeme Dingle Foundation – Invercargill, South Island
If you are looking for a fun and interactive role that creates a tangible impact on the lives of Southlands tamariki and allows you to infuse culture and values, then this is the role for you!
About the role:
Kiwi Can is an energy-packed activity-based primary school programme, aimed at tamariki aged 5-12. It sets a foundation of values and life skills that students take with them through school and into later life. Kiwi Can teaches values such as integrity and respect, helps build resilience and delivers fun-filled learning within schools.
With a start date of 13 January 2025, this is a rostered role where the hours will change annually based on the needs of the schools that we deliver the programme in. Days and hours for 2025 have not yet been set but will be between 20-30 hours per week and includes some travel out of town for which a company vehicle is provided. The hours vary each day with start times no earlier than 8am Monday - Friday and finishes no later than 3.45pm.
About you:
We are looking for an engaging person to join our team in Southland. You will be involved in planning and delivering a range of creative and interactive lessons where akonga can enjoy a positive, uplifting environment that encourages self-belief and confidence. Being looked up to by akonga, you will role model the Kiwi Can values of integrity and respect and help build resilience in our next generation.
Specific experience is not required, but experience in a similar area will set you apart; full training and ongoing support are provided.
We are looking for someone who loves a challenge and is determined to add value and build courage and confidence in the lives of young people.
To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to:
Engage with young people and make connections.
Maintain a high level of positivity, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude.
Work both independently and in a team environment.
Have the drive and passion to make a difference in the community.
Create and maintain positive working relationships with both your team and in schools.
You will need to have good working knowledge of MS Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams. Experience in Canva would be great to have but not essential.
A high level of professional presentation, behavior, and common sense is required.
Requirements:
Own reliable transport and clean full NZ drivers' licence.
Appointment will be subject to a clear police check.
You must be in Invercargill, New Zealand, and have work rights in New Zealand - we are not an accredited employer for sponsorship.
What's in it for you?
Paid leave during school holidays (conditions apply) and a supportive environment to become an effective Kiwi Kaha Leader, and ongoing personal and professional development.
If you are ready to have a positive impact on New Zealand's young people, then apply now!
Your application must include a cover letter and CV and will not be considered without both.
