Palmerston North Womens Refuge – Manawatu County Other (Community Services & Development) Full time 40 hours per week Women's Refuge is New Zealand's largest nation-wide organisation that supports and helps women and children experiencing family violence.
Our vision is for all women and children in Aotearoa to live free from domestic and family violence.
The National Collective of Independent Women's Refuges (NCIWR) is the umbrella organisation for 40 affiliated refuges providing services across 43 sites located throughout Aotearoa.
At Palmerston North Women's Refuge Inc, we promote the rights of all women and children to be safe from family violence.
It is our aim to assist in the empowerment of all women and children, as well as providing the best possible support, crisis intervention and education services throughout the Manawatu, Tararua and Horowhenua Regions.
Duties for the above role: Advocating and supporting clients from family/domestic violence situations Experience in the use of the Family Safety System (FSS) database is desirable, for daily police referrals and attendance at the Te Kauru Safety Assessment Meeting.
Coordinate referral follow-ups and safety planning for families and whanau as part of the Te Kauru process.
Working alongside clients to empower, encourage and educate them in their journey of creating a violence-free environment for them and their loved ones.
Using Refuge database as a best practice guideline and ensure factual and timely records are kept for each client.
Maintain accurate case notes and ensure database is updated within the given time frame.
Prepare written reports as required by the team leader/manager.
Monitor the progress of clients by checking case management plans regularly.
Update or create new risk assessments and safety plans for clients regularly (Weekly to monthly).
Attend hui, forums and networks that benefit the Women's Refuge and our clients.
Promote and articulate, both externally and internally, the Refuge's key roles and messages regarding family violence and women's and children's issues in general.
Ensure all residents have safety plans and ongoing action plans.

Hours are between 7.30am -5.30pm.

You will be working with women at high risk of domestic violence.
The successful candidate must be able to engage with people of all cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and self-motivation are required to assess and deliver safety plans and needs assessments.
The ability to liaise with and refer to other agencies is essential.
This position is based in Palmerston North but some travel to other regions will be required.
You will be part of a supportive team of people with a can-do attitude.
A sense of humour is a must.
