About the role: Reporting to the WHSE Manager VIC/SA/NT, this role will be responsible for leading the WHSE function across all business units in New Zealand.
You will play a significant part & have a strong appetite in driving a high-performance culture that optimises operational efficiency and sustainability.
This hands-on role will provide practical WHSE advice and support to our people whilst continually driving WHSE in a positive direction through the implementation of robust Management plans.
You will integrate into a team that fosters teamwork and collaboration whilst working for a leader that values growth & development.
Travel will be required across our 7 sites in New Zealand.
* Managing the day-to-day WHSE Management Systems * Develop and implement the safety and environment strategy for the business in line with the CSR objectives * Identify trends and develop strategies and training to address these * Facilitate effective communications across the business via huddles, toolbox meetings and leadership meetings * Ensuring standards are effectively communicated to stakeholders * Review legislative changes and make appropriate recommendations and changes to support implementation * Oversee and manage Return to Work (RTW) programs, ensuring effective reintegration of employees following injury or illness.
* Manage risk register for business including appropriate actions for mitigation and reduction * Lead the Risk Reduction Planning process for the business, specific to each site.
* Coaching managers on risk assessments and JSAs * Champion hazard identification and implementing appropriate controls with managers * Manage Industrial Hygiene and dangerous goods processes * Conduct audits and prepare reports as required * Participate in project meetings to drive acceptable WHSE outcomes * Facilitate Incidents management, traffic management and emergency response processes About You: You will have experience in engaging with a broad range of stakeholders and strive to advance the WHSE strategy through enabling a unified culture, including: * Previous experience within a similar role & managing multiple sites and managing RTW requirements * Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels.
* Positive thinker who wants to work together for solutions rather than focusing on the problem * Demonstrated background in the achievement of Health Safety and Environment objectives, ideally within a similar environment (Manufacturing, Construction, or Heavy Industries with a higher safety risk background) * Proven leadership capabilities with well-developed team leadership skills * Able to engage and influence multiple stakeholders at all levels * Able to interpret standards and help others through continuous improvement * Demonstrated ability to inform strategy, deliver systems, and work to standards * Qualifications in WHSE and certification for Training and Assessment, WHS Auditing, and Return-to-Work Coordination * Proven working knowledge of WHSE systems and auditing experience * Familiarity with WHS legislation What's on offer: * Competitive remuneration package and access to Kiwi Saver and Southern cross health benefits.
