Waterview Playgroup Coordinator

Details of the offer

This can be a busy and varied role where you will be supporting the Volunteer Playgroup Coordinator. You may also be responsible for running the Playgroup on Tuesdays and coordinating activities, ensuring the group is accessible to whanau in the Waterview area regularly. This includes providing a range of free educational activities to enhance tamariki in their ongoing learning and development and encourage parent participation. You will help set up and pack up each playgroup session, ensuring the health and safety of participants is looked after and monitoring our inventory of equipment and supplies. The playgroup may include facilitating activities such as a story session, music session, play dough, and painting and craft activities. You will also be responsible for ensuring the space is tidy at the conclusion of the session. The purpose of the role is to bring parents and caregivers together, giving them a chance to meet up and connect in a welcoming and safe environment.Requirements:The ideal person will be friendly, outgoing, and have good communication skills. You will need to have Internet access, be confident on social media, and be comfortable performing some administrative duties. You will be passionate about community and supporting families. You will be a self-motivated, warm individual with a skill for communicating with whanau from all walks of life. Working with tamariki will require you to be flexible and agile; therefore, you will be able to adjust as required. We expect all our kaimahi and volunteers to show a commitment to living our values of: kia maia – to be courageous, kia Mahaki – to be humble, kia manaaki – to care, and kia tuhono – to stand in relationship. A Police background check is required for this role.Time commitment:The role takes 3 hours of your time per week.
