At the same time, you will support the transition of Watercare as the Council works with the Government to ensure a strong balance sheet for the sustainable delivery of infrastructure to enable Auckland's water services.You will act with personal integrity and moral leadership with wise and thorough decision-making. Board members are accountable and responsive to both Auckland Council and the people of Auckland and must demonstrate a public sector ethos and a commitment to collaborate across the council group.On behalf of the Auckland Council shareholder, you will place Watercare's customers at the forefront of your decision making, taking into account their needs for a cost-effective, affordable experience with minimised disruption to their everyday life and business.You will need to have proven and extensive experience as a leader of large-scale, complex organisations.We are looking for people with deep professional experience in one or more of the following areas:Experience raising funds to invest in capital projects that benefit Auckland and provide exceptional value for money.Knowledge of te ao Maori and knowledge of tikanga Maori - to provide the board with knowledge suitable to ensure that Watercare maintains strong relationships with iwi and promotes improved outcomes for Maori.Experience of utility industries, including working within regulatory frameworks on pricing.Experience of audit, risk and insurance with skills to ensure that Watercare's risks are managed appropriately.Auckland Council encourages diversity on boards and seeks a range of perspectives to support robust decision making.Watercare is New Zealand's largest company in the water and wastewater industry.
