Water Services Officer (North)

Details of the offer

The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai is the water services regulator for Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a Crown entity governed by a Minister-appointed Board and advised on Maori interests and knowledge by Te Puna, a statutory Maori Advisory Group. Our responsibilities are to protect and promote drinking water safety and related public health outcomes - we regulate drinking water suppliers on behalf of the public. We also have an oversight role in relation to the environmental performance of drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater networks. If you're a passionate and driven individual who shares our vision for making water safe every day for everyone, then join us and be part of making a difference. Our Water Services Officers (North) work in a small team operating out of our two offices located in the North Island, Hamilton and Palmerston North. The Water Services North team is a critical operational function responsible for reviewing drinking and wastewater safety plans, overseeing compliance monitoring arrangements, and ensuring effective working relationships with our key stakeholders to enable broader outcomes. As a Water Services Officer you will: Review drinking water and wastewater safety plans in line with policies and procedures, risk assessments, and the wider work programme and provide feedback to suppliers. Respond to drinking water and wastewater inquiries, and notifications of exceedances of the Drinking Water Standards and risks to drinking water safety and quantity. Maintain effective internal and external relationships, working within a dynamic team environment. Innovation and creativity are key drivers in the way we work - our size requires us to be smart and agile. We are looking for someone who: Has experience working in a similar environment, ideally in the water sector. Is familiar with drinking water treatment requirements. Can apply judgment and analytical skills in an operational regulatory environment. Can engage with others and provide education and information in a meaningful way. You must have a legal right to work in New Zealand. All applicants require a clean, full NZ driver license for this role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
