Healthcare Practitioner or Technical WorkerWard Manager - West Mo te Turanga | About the Role We are seeking a Ward Manager - West to join our Patient Services team at Christchurch Hospital.
As the Ward Manager, you will be responsible for guiding the day-to-day running of the West Ward within Southern Cross – Christchurch Hospital, reporting to the Patient Services Manager. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring professional leadership and clinical expertise in the delivery of surgical ward nursing, including complex patient care.
The successful candidate will role model the highest standards of patient care and safety, overseeing the day-to-day operational management and leadership of the ward. You will manage nursing resources across the service to meet workload demands, ensuring efficient safe staffing ratios and skill mix. A key aspect of this role is to act as an expert resource to others.
This role will also be responsible for encouraging and influencing a collaborative and positive collegial team culture and maintaining strong relationships with medical specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient care expectations are exceeded.
This role is 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) with shifts to be negotiated based on service delivery.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership role (i.e., Team Leader, Charge Nurse, Duty Leader).Proven leadership experience and ability in operational management within a surgical hospital setting.Proven ability to work cooperatively within a multi-disciplinary team.Registered Nurse in NZ with current practicing certificate.PDRP Level 4 (Expert), or working towards.A tertiary qualification in nursing management, or related discipline would be desirable.Thrives in a fast-paced environment.A kind and positive attitude.Ko wai matou | Our Organisation Southern Cross Healthcare is driven by a clear purpose to advance the provision of quality healthcare in Aotearoa New Zealand.
