About the role We are looking for an administrator to join our Surgical Ward team as a Ward Administrator working 0700 - 1500 on Saturday and Sunday. This role will effectively contribute to the smooth running of the ward by providing an efficient and timely administrative support function that is responsive and flexible to the changing needs of the service/organisation.
Tasks include but are not limited to the following: Be the first point of contact for visitors (internal and external) to the ward and handling all manner of enquiries, including being a first point of contact for complaintsRaising purchase orders for office equipment and clinical supplies, maintain ward stock levels and equipment coordination and inventoryOverseeing the cleaning, maintenance and repairs of equipmentTracking and locating clinical records and data entry in patient management systemsAdmitting and discharging patients into hospital systemsEnsuring patient referrals and clinic appointments have been madeAbout the Team/Service/Location Te Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities. About you We are looking for a new team member to carry out varied administrative duties to support the wider team, and ensure our department runs smoothly. You will be extremely resilient, display maturity whilst making sound decisions, and have a professional can-do attitude in line with our values. As an experienced administrator, you will be skilled at juggling multiple priorities, and able to remain calm under pressure.
Ideally you will bring the following skills and experience: Previous experience in a clerical administration roleBe good at multitasking, and work well under pressureExcellent word processing and data entry skills, with a strong eye for detailA flexible approach with the ability to successfully prioritise your workloadRespectful nature handling confidential and sensitive information in a professional mannerCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsSalary range This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the PSA South Island Clerical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and the salary will be in accordance with the National Health Administration Workers Pay Scale, Band 4A between $70,970 and $73,941 p.a dependent on relevant experience.
