Volunteer and Foster Programme Team Lead / WellingtonSPCA is one of the best loved and most respected charities in New Zealand, with a proud history of helping animals in need and advocating for animal welfare since 1872.About the rolePermanent full-time roleMonday – Friday 8am – 5pm, (Saturdays tri-weekly 8am-5pm)Your enthusiasm and dedication will see you:Dealing with enquiries regarding volunteering and fostering of animals at the centre in person, via phone, email or website.Coordinating and working with volunteers and students, placing with centre teams with an aim to improve animal pathways through the centre and volunteer experience.Monitoring appointments for animal health and length of stay while in foster care.Enhancing opportunities for socialisation, enrichment and behaviour modification for the animals in the shelter through the foster programme.Working with other departments to ensure the animal areas are functioning well and goals are being achieved.Coordinating events in the centre for volunteers and outside the centre to engage with the community.Writing volunteer newsletters at least twice a year to communicate the happenings of the centre.We need you to:Have practical animal-handling experience and knowledge, in particular and experience in behaviour and basic care.Have excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle conflict situations and a friendly and positive attitude.Have previous experience working, volunteering and managing people.Have a flexible approach to the hours of work and be able to prioritise and effectively manage workloads.Have excellent data-entry & computer skills including Microsoft Office.Demonstrate empathy and resilience.Positively work in a fast-paced environment and must have a love for working with both people and animals.Be active, physically able to cope with the rigor of the job.Have your full, current New Zealand driver's licence.Be a self-motivated team player, who is enthusiastic and passionate about animal welfare.Be a quick thinker who is skilled at multi-tasking and prioritising.What we can offer you, our SPCA PurrksWorking with SPCA offers numerous perks.
