The Canterbury Eye Service is friendly, helpful and very supportive. You will be supported to carry out research in the department. The Role:
Are you a skilled consultant ophthalmologist specialising in vitreoretinal surgery? Do you have a passion for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the advancement of ophthalmic services? If so, we invite you to join our team at Christchurch Hospital, located in the vibrant city of Christchurch, New Zealand.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced ophthalmologist with expertise in vitreoretinal surgery to join our dynamic ophthalmology department. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality vitreoretinal and medical retina services to our patients, as well as contributing to the teaching and training of Resident Medical Officers, nursing staff and support staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide expert consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for patients requiring retinal interventions.
Perform a wide range of vitreoretinal procedures, including retinal detachment surgery, macular surgery and diabetic retinal surgery. Previous experience in uveitis or medical retina would be an advantage.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex retinal conditions.
Minimum Requirements:
Medical degree from a recognised institution.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO) or equivalent qualification.
Specialist registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Substantial experience in vitreoretinal surgery, including fellowship training or equivalent experience.
