Korero mo te turanga - About the role Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Visual Designer to join our Whata - Marketing Group. This will be a fixed-term, full-time role for 12 months. Key responsibilities: Provide visual design services to all key internal University clients for the production of recruitment related materials, advertising materials, other University publications and materials, and other work as required and determined by the Design and Branding Lead. Clients include Student Recruitment, Admission and Orientation, Graduation Office, and Te Kura Tangata - Development Office/Foundation. Provide specialist support to Central Service units, faculties, and schools by responding to and actioning enquiries in relation to visual design needs for publications, collateral, web, and digital assets as required. Work closely with all members of the Takitoru - Communications, Marketing and Engagement groups to ensure that the University's brand, image, and the expression of the University's vision are portrayed in an appropriate and consistent manner. O pumanawa - About you You will have the ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite applications (including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), and Microsoft Office applications (including Word and PowerPoint). Ideally you are a designer with fresh ideas and have a tertiary qualification. Some experience in motion work and knowledge of Animate and After Effects would also be an advantage. You will be able to form effective working relationships across the University and with external suppliers such as printers and creative/media agencies. You will also provide professional design advice and services to various parts of the University while managing competing expectations. Key requirements: Current knowledge of and experience in the graphics and printing industry including working with printers, creative agencies, and other contractors. Proven experience designing for both print and digital marketing materials (static and motion graphics). Proven experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications (including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Animate CC). Experience in assisting with producing publications, digital advertising, and other promotional materials. Proven written and oral communication skills. Proven experience with web publishing software and content management systems. Experience using word-processing, spreadsheeting, and presentation software (Microsoft product knowledge is an advantage).
