About us and the role Smith and Sheth occupies a privileged position amongst New Zealand fine wine producers, having gained a stellar reputation for exceptional wine over our short existence.
With the addition of area under our management, we are looking for additional assistance with our vineyard operations. This is a full-time, fixed-term role for the 2024/25 season with a focus on operational aspects of plant and machinery in both narrow row, intensively planted, regeneratively farmed vineyard, alongside a more 'traditional' approach on 38ha of wider rows using modern tractors.
You will need to love working with technically-smart gear on the vineyard and across the estate and have some good experience at an operational level in agriculture, horticulture, or viticulture. Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Management of all plant and machinery operations and maintenanceOperating both the Niko tractors and modern vineyard tractors for tasks such as spraying, weeding, trimming, mowing, and mulchingTrellis and vineyard infrastructure maintenanceHolding a current Growsafe certificate would be an advantage.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about growing naturally-farmed, exceptionally high-quality grapes and being involved in making some of New Zealand's greatest wines.
