Tutor - Teaching Innovation and Research at Whitireia Community Polytechnic, WellingtonAbout the role - Te kaupapaFixed-term, part-time position from January to November, 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE).WelTec and Whitireia are looking to appoint an academic tutor within our Tuapapa team. We are interested in applications from kaiako with teaching strengths in a range of foundational academic areas which include combinations of the following: mathematics, health science, academic communication that would enable them to teach within degree and subdegree programmes.The ideal applicant will have the following skills and knowledge:Appropriate qualifications in the relevant subject area (mathematics, health science, academic communication)An understanding of teaching and learning with reference to te ao and te reo MaoriExperience in teaching including online teaching and with young adultsRelevant recent and successful adult teaching experience is desirableAn ability to adapt teaching practices to meet the needs of a diverse range of studentsA student-centred focus and skills in relationship building with students and colleaguesAbility and willingness to work effectively as part of dedicated teaching teams and members of the wider WelTec and Whitireia teamsExemplary communication skillsFlexibility and the ability to adapt and problem-solveThe successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the development of teaching and assessment material for programmes and support students with the development of literacy and numeracy skills.
