Tutor - Health Science at Whitireia Community Polytechnic, WellingtonFixed-term, part-time position from January to December, 18.75 hours per week (0.5 FTE).
WelTec and Whitiriea are looking to appoint a Health Science tutor who will teach on our Health Pathway Wellington Trades Academy course.
Wellington Trades Academy courses provide students with the opportunity to get a head start, continue with education, and learn new skills in a variety of vocational pathways not offered within secondary schools. Students select one area of interest and attend classes either one or two days per week, whilst still attending their usual secondary school for the other three or four days. The pathway they choose will allow them to gain credits towards NCEA and across other national qualifications within vocational pathways.
About the role - Te Kaupapa Key responsibilities include facilitating teaching, learning, developing teaching materials, assessment, and moderation.
The ideal applicant will have the following skills and knowledge: Appropriate qualifications in the relevant subject area - health science.It is desirable to have the assessor qualification - 4098 Use standards to assess candidate performance.An understanding of teaching and learning with reference to te ao and te reo Maori.Relevant recent and successful teaching experience with young adults is desirable.An ability to adapt teaching practices to meet the needs of a diverse range of students.A student-centred focus and skills in relationship building with students and colleagues.Ability and willingness to work effectively as part of dedicated teaching teams and members of the wider WelTec and Whitireia teams.Exemplary communication skills.Flexibility and the ability to adapt and problem-solve.If you enjoy working as part of a dynamic team, have great communication skills, and would like to join a fast-paced environment where you can undertake new challenges, we would like to hear from you.
