This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our multicultural kura. Tuakau School is a semi-rural kura situated in the North Waikato and caters to Y1 to 6. A special feature of our kura is our akomanga reo rua/bilingual unit – Whare Manaaki, who continually provide knowledge of local tikanga, customs, beliefs and values belonging to local iwi.
We have a highly engaged staff, student and parent body along with strong partnerships across other local kura and the wider community. Our kura has also strengthened its partnerships with Waikato and Te Puaha o Waikato communities to support students' learning in kaupapa Maori.
We are seeking a tumuaki tuarua/deputy principal who:
Strongly commits to upholding and giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Demonstrates excellent relational skills such as being approachable, trustworthy, fair, supportive, and positive with a sense of humour!
Is a confident educational leader who is capable of continuing the strategic direction of the kura.
Values teamwork and recognises the importance of their role within the current SLT.
Has the ability to lead change and the development of Te Mataiaho, the NZ Curriculum .
Is student-focused, emphasising wellbeing and academic excellence.
Is highly visible in the classroom and playground.
Has a proven ability to build on culturally responsive practices and promote cultural diversity.
