Trustee - Christchurch

Details of the offer

Public Trust is New Zealand's largest trustee services organisation, providing specialist advice on a range of legal, financial, investment, trust and estate management services to individuals, families, and businesses. As a purpose-driven, values-led organisation, we help people protect what matters most to them and their whanau. Whether it be planning how they want to pass on what matters most to them - their music collection, family heirlooms or KiwiSaver savings - or making sure their wishes are carried out after they're gone, Public Trust is here to help.
We are seeking applications for someone interested in becoming a Trustee in our Christchurch Customer Centre.
As a Trustee, you are a key member of a Customer Centre team, helping our customers plan for the future and manage their current financial affairs.
Each day is different! Some days you will be spending time with customers to understand their needs and helping them write a will or enduring power of attorney. Other days you will be visiting clients who need our support to manage their finances. This may involve liaising with solicitors or welfare guardians, making decisions around what to do with their assets to support the care they need, or managing their payments and income to ensure everything is in order. You'll also be managing Trusts for customers, meeting them annually to ensure the Trust is fit for purpose and we/they meet their obligations.
Supported by an in-house team of accountants and solicitors, you'll hold the primary relationship with these customers, managing their experience end-to-end.
You'll be responsible for a group of clients within your customer centre who you'll keep in touch with, ensuring they are kept in the loop of progress or key decisions we are making on their behalf. You won't be going in alone - you'll be assisted by a team of specialists who can respond to any queries you have, as well as your customer centre team leader and manager.
You'll work across a range of products and services including the administration of wills, estates, trusts and enduring powers of attorney, and as your experience grows you will coach junior members of the team.
Ko wai koe | About you
First and foremost, you'll be passionate about creating amazing customer experiences. A positive attitude, being naturally empathetic and resilient is a must! You'll be doing interesting work that will require you to think critically and problem-solve regularly. Attention to detail and comfort using technology will help you ensure decisions you make are executed to a high standard.
Exposure to estate administration. This might be exposure to relationship management and administration of client contracts (eg. trusts, agency clients) or it could be you've managed the estate of a loved one or gone through a similar experience of looking after someone's matters.
Interest and/or experience in working with communities including experience working in social services, health organisations or support services.
Demonstrated ability to build a rapport, listen, and show empathy with customers and colleagues.
Experience working with customers during moments that matter in their life.
Have received consistently high or improving customer feedback.
Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, problem solve, show initiative and collaborate with colleagues.
Previous experience in a trustee, legal or financial services role is a plus, as is an understanding of basic accounting concepts.
You'll be joining a highly collaborative team where you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of New Zealanders. To support you on this journey, we have a purpose-built learning framework - Qualified to Serve - consisting of formal and on-the-job learning, that allows you to 'earn as you learn'. You'll have a personalised development plan and all the support you need to grow your career.
You'll also get, amongst other things, birthday leave, exposure to great well-being initiatives, access to partner discounts, and the opportunity to work in a flex work environment - this includes working from home (WFH) and/or part-time hours to fit the needs of our customers.
