We operate 11 containerships, moving +240k TEU across various ports in 16 countries, in partnership with Maersk, CMA/ANL and PIL. NPDL is part of The Wonderful Company headquartered in the USA (including Fiji Water).JVT, a proud member of the NPDL family, specializes in delivering reliable, efficient transport solutions across New Zealand. With a strong reputation for handling a diverse range of cargo, including containerized goods and bulk freight, JVT is dedicated to supporting the seamless flow of goods for NPDL's customers.We are now looking for a Transport Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the entire JVT landside transportation and distribution process to ensure the efficient movement of goods from origin to destination. This role involves strategic planning to align logistics operations with the company's long-term objectives, managing fleet operations, coordinating with drivers, and ensuring timely, cost-effective deliveries.A key focus of this position includes problem-solving to address logistical challenges, leading various projects to enhance operational efficiency, such as route planning, load optimisation, and vehicle maintenance scheduling. The Transport Manager is also accountable for ensuring compliance with industry standards, transportation regulations, and driving change management initiatives to adapt to evolving market conditions and company goals. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth, compliant, and cost-efficient trucking operations that contribute to the company's overall success.Here is what you will be doing:Leading and managing the logistics and transportation team, including drivers, dispatchers and the workshop.Providing ongoing training and development for team members to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulations.Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and implement process improvements.Managing performance, conducting evaluations, and providing feedback to the team to maintain high levels of productivity and morale.Mentoring the Dispatch Team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and productivity.Conducting regular performance evaluations on team members providing feedback for improvement.Planning, managing, and coordinating the transport and delivery of goods across New Zealand, ensuring efficient, timely, and safe deliveries.Developing and implementing cost-effective transportation strategies that optimise the use of resources, including vehicle fleets, drivers, and owner drivers.Overseeing the scheduling, dispatching, and route planning to ensure on-time delivery and effective utilisation of transport resources.Monitoring and managing the performance of transport providers, including negotiating contracts, service agreements, and maintaining strong working relationships.Managing fleet servicing and maintenance schedules to ensure continuity of services and safety, efficiency of vehicles.Streamlining workflows and optimising processes to improve operational efficiencies.Preparing, analysing, and presenting reports that highlight key insights, trends, and actionable recommendations.Developing, managing, and monitoring transportation budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining high service quality.Analysing and reporting on transportation costs, identifying areas for savings and improvement.Providing regular updates and reports to senior management on the financial performance of transportation operations.Here's what you'll bring to the table:5+ Years of Industry Expertise: With experience in a similar role, you bring unparalleled industry knowledge.Integrity & Work Ethics: You uphold the highest standards, ensuring robust controls and ethical practices are always in place.Safety Champion: You have a deep understanding of HSE legislation and best practices, seamlessly integrating safety protocols into daily fleet operations.Strategic Fleet Leadership: Proven ability to craft and execute innovative container fleet strategies that drive results and efficiency.Results-Driven: Thriving under pressure, you tackle challenges head-on and consistently deliver outstanding results.Project Management Pro: A track record of leading successful projects that boost operational efficiency and streamline processes.M&R Expertise: Skilled in developing and implementing Maintenance and Repair (M&R) processes that ensure fleet longevity and performance.Inspirational Leader: You have the experience and influence to lead teams, manage budgets, and drive strategic initiatives with confidence.Clear Communicator: Your communication skills are top-notch, allowing you to convey ideas and directives effectively across all organizational levels and geographies.Analytical Problem Solver: You excel at pinpointing root causes and devising actionable solutions that drive continuous improvement.Change Driver: Experienced in leading improvement initiatives that align with and propel common business objectives.Business Case Developer: Adept at crafting comprehensive business cases to support and justify transformative change initiatives.Tech-Savvy: Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with a strong technical understanding of fleet management systems such as ICOS, Container Chain or Trifecta.Aligned with Our Values: You embody our core values—Work Together, Adapt & Grow, Nourish & Develop, Play to Win, and Do What's Right—in every aspect of your work.This is a full-time permanent role based in Auckland.
