Moo Maatou | About Us Te Whakakitenga o Waikato Inc manages the collective assets of the Waikato-Tainui iwi. Our goal is to cultivate a prosperous, healthy, vibrant, innovative, and culturally strong iwi that enables mana motuhake. This is achieved through various initiatives aimed at improving tribal outcomes.
One such initiative is Waikato-Tainui Mokopuna Ora, which focuses on improving outcomes for mokopuna and whaanau involved in the statutory care and protection system.
Mokopuna Ora is a kaupapa Maaori, strengths-based, and whaanau-led model of care. It supports whaanau and mokopuna in navigating Aotearoa's complex care and protection system, ultimately reducing the number of iwi Maaori mokopuna entering the care system. By empowering whaanau to take necessary steps, they can provide a safe and loving home for their mokopuna.

This is a leadership role within the Mokopuna Ora Strategy and Transformation team, responsible for directing, managing, and motivating the team. The role involves developing and maintaining an agreed project plan, including detailed, staged plans, focused on coordinating the development of an iwi-led, whaanau-informed model of care.
A solid understanding and application of business case development and risk management processes are essential, as is the ability to tailor expert knowledge to meet specific needs. The role will leverage Waikato-Tainui's influence as a Te Tiriti partner to guide decision-making on resource allocation, processes, systems, strategies, policies, practices, legislation, commissioning, and resourcing related to the care and protection of tamariki mokopuna.
This position will lead and draw on the expertise within the Strategy and Transformation team, which spans project management, Government policy, community relationships, and care and protection specialists. The goal is to facilitate the development of a comprehensive new model of care.
