Trainee Livestock Representative - Three positions We are very pleased to announce we are opening up our renowned Trainee Livestock Representative Programme for a new intake. We are looking for three new trainees to join our East Coast (Gisborne), Waikato (Hamilton) and Southland (Invercargill) Livestock Sales teams. This is your chance to develop and build your skill set over an 18-month period to ensure you are ready to transition into a full-time Livestock Representative. Under the guidance and support of our Senior Livestock Representatives throughout each region, you'll learn about our complex business through a programme of training designed to provide practical and theoretical learning and skills. You'll learn everything from sales and technical knowledge through to client management and systems. Why should you apply for the Trainee Livestock programme? You'll learn about: End to end services of livestock supply chain Our clients, and how to manage a client base while maintaining excellent customer service Qualitative and quantitative technical assessments of livestock Quoting, contracts, systems and processes that support our commercial operations Compliance and legislation that plays a key role in the industry The wider PGG Wrightson business, including our Retail, Wool, Water, Corporate, and Real Estate Business Units. What does a day in the life of a Trainee look like? 'Every day is different - Generally you are spending the majority of your time with your Trainee Sponsor, out on the road visiting their clients and helping them with their everyday sales. Other days you might be in the sale-yards helping the wider livestock team in your area or learning to draft stock and auctioneer. Some days you will be given the opportunity to spend time in other business units of PGW, like in the wool stores, out on the road with a Technical Advisor learning about agronomy and farm systems' - Caitlin Rokela, former Trainee Livestock Representative. We're looking for candidates with: Enthusiasm and passion for the NZ agriculture industry A passion for sales, good stockmanship and willingness to learn at every opportunity Ability to relate to New Zealand farmers and build solid relationships with a range of clients A basic understanding of the agricultural industry, and current challenges Practical farming/horticultural experience is strongly preferred A full, current and clean NZ driver's licence.
