Thermofluids Analyst Ii - Neutron

Details of the offer

Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation, and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world. Neutron will be our next rocket on the launch pad, an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket to launch the mega constellations of the future. Our space systems business includes our extensive line of satellites and components that have enabled more than 1,700 missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA Psyche Mission, Artemis I, Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and more.
Join our pioneering team and launch your career to new heights!
Rocket Lab's Neutron team is responsible for bringing our new large rocket Neutron and its launch and test sites to life. From designing and testing Neutron's structures and components, to firing up its new Archimedes engines, to setting up Neutron's launch pads and test sites across the United States, joining the Neutron team is your opportunity to help launch a new large rocket for the very first time.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:Rocket Lab's integrated analysis team contributes to the operation and development of Neutron by using modelling and simulation to solve challenging problems involving dynamics, fluid flow, and thermodynamics. You will develop and be the technical owner of propellant, pressure-loss, and gas budgets and systems across the Neutron launch Vehicle. Whether it is using CFD to predict the heating on the vehicle during ascent, 1D flow of propellants and gases, or data analysis to develop vehicle performance, analysis is critical to guide changes and develop the capability of Neutron.
As a Thermofluids Analyst in Rocket Lab's Analysis team you will contribute to the analysis, design validation, and improvements of Rocket Lab's launch vehicles. Day to day, you will be expected to develop concepts, perform trade studies, run simulations, and evaluate performance around Neutron's propellant management, conditioning, flow, and dynamics. Furthermore, you will be the owner of cavitation budget, pressurization gas budget, and reaction control system.
Ideal candidates will thrive in ambiguity, and are excited to work in a small, high-performing team focused on continued learning and growth. Success in this position will be measured by the knowledge and experience you bring to the role, your ability to lead development projects without supervision, and your ability to successfully collaborate across teams to deliver results.

WHAT TO EXPECTWe're on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that's not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work, and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other's backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small.
