Business Unit: Cubic Transportation Systems Company Details: Job Summary: The primary role is to develop requirements analysis, configuration data and automated test activities to ensure required system performance and reliability standards are designed in and verified within Cubic following designated standards and procedures.
The role includes the ability to assess the test requirements; define a test plan and procedures; perform the test phase and provide detailed reports allowing test repeatability.
Additionally, the test engineer is to support off-site testing activities, either abroad at a customer location or at any other Cubic facility or remote location.
This position typically works under general supervision and direction.
Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Job Title: Engineer Test Senior NZL Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Leads the development and programming of various automated and semi-automated test equipment.
Works closely with management to develop and coordinate test concepts and objectives.
Advises management of potential risks, costs, and schedule variables associated with the alternatives of the proposed testing at various assembly levels.
Works with engineering leads to develop product and/or system requirements.
Reviews proposed engineering test requirements and criteria for production.
Provides input into the design process to the design engineers/system engineers to ensure test requirements are included in new/upgraded designs.
Performs analyses of test requirements and test criteria and provides input as to the optimum methods of implementation.
Assesses and makes recommendations as to the equipment requirements and materials to be utilized for production test and trials or demonstrations for new bids.
Prepares test plans detailing the scope of testing, resources required and schedules for dissemination to program managers, design engineers, system engineers and customers.
Provides feedback to design engineers/system engineers to ensure test requirements are included in the design.
Coordinates with manufacturing engineering on proposed manufacturing/production sequencing to determine overall best manufacturing configuration or build state to achieve desired product verification.
With manufacturing and industrial engineering, develops estimates for test time, cycle time, equipment usage, and capacity.
Makes recommendations to management as to the equipment requirement and estimates for commercial off the shelf (COTS) or bench top type equipment.
Prior to production release, assists in performing first article proofing of the procedures with the required equipment and any necessary software.
Coordinates with Design and Quality Engineering to conduct root cause analysis when issues arise and find resolutions prior to release.
Writes automated test plans and procedures and conducts tests.
Assists in developing test procedures, test documentation, and troubleshooting techniques and training support of test personnel.
Supports production testing by providing liaison support between product test, manufacturing and design engineering for resolving technical problems encountered during test.
Supports programs by preparing for and carrying out formal acceptance testing with the customer, both at Cubic sites and abroad at the customer premises.

Minimum Job Requirements: Qualifications: Essential: Tertiary qualification in the field of electronic engineering, computer science, information systems, or other relevant technical discipline.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge: Essential: Five years minimum experience of test methodology on electronic equipment, preferably within a product development area.
Three years minimum experience in performing testing in hardware, software, and systems.
Five years minimum experience of writing test plans, test procedures and test reports.
Five years minimum experience in using test equipment (oscilloscope, multi meters, spectrum analyser).
Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and IT based tools.
Software knowledge sufficient to operate software interfaces based on message structures to the bits/bytes/data structures level.
This knowledge of hexadecimal message structures will be required to test interfaces.
Desirable: Knowledge of formal EMC testing and environmental testing.
General hardware and mechanical knowledge.
