Job Description We've got an exciting opportunity for a Technician to join our team in Christchurch due to an internal promotion.
About the role This role is responsible for executing the key compost quality assurance and environmental monitoring functions under the guidance of the Technologist & Operations Manager.
This includes routine testing, sampling, operation of control systems, preparation of trials, and data collation.
The Technician will also assist with other operational activities, as required.
This role will include: Perform routine inspection and monitoring of material within the in-vessel and windrow composting processes (temperature, moisture, oxygen, odour, dust, etc.)
and report results.
Perform routine inspection and monitoring of feedstock and finished products (moisture, density, size distribution, structure/porosity, C:N ratio, maturity, contamination, etc.)
Assist the Technologist & Operations Manager with planning & scheduling of composting operations based on monitoring activity (blend ratios, structure/porosity, airflows, turning schedules, irrigation, consolidation, movements, etc.)
Obtain feedstock, in-process material, and finished product samples and submit for further analysis.
Compile results for reporting.
Obtain environmental monitoring samples and submit for further analysis.
Compile results for reporting.
Operate in-vessel tunnel control systems, under the direction of the Technologist.
Ensure process and finished product compliance with composting Standards & relevant certifications (NZS 4454, AssureQuality, BioGro).
Qualifications To be successful in the role: Sound written and verbal communication skills.
Physical fitness.
Intermediate computer skills with common software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Internet) and common platforms (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone).
Technical or formal training in science or a related field preferred.
