Need a Nerd, a leading technology solutions provider based in Invercargill, New Zealand, is seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our dynamic and busy team as a full-time Nerd.
Role Overview: You will play a vital role in providing top-notch technical support and ensuring the smooth operation of our clients' desktop environments. You will be responsible for resolving complex technical issues, managing hardware and software deployments, and implementing effective solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of desktop infrastructure, excellent problem-solving skills, and a customer-focused approach.
Responsibilities:
Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for desktop systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
Resolve complex technical issues escalated from junior technicians and alongside our other experienced team members.
Deploy and manage desktop infrastructure, including operating systems, software applications, Eftpos systems and updates.
Identify and recommend improvements to enhance technical performance, security, and efficiency.
Document technical processes, procedures, and configurations accurately and comprehensively.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies related to desktop engineering and support.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a desktop support or similar role, demonstrating a solid understanding of desktop infrastructure and support.
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and desktop applications.
Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues effectively.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Customer-focused mindset with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate) are advantageous but not mandatory.
Knowledge of Eftpos systems advantageous but not mandatory.
Valid driver's license, enabling you to travel to client sites when necessary.
