Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales through technical expertise in hydraulic systems, generating customer inquiries, and delivering quality customer service. This role focuses on solution-oriented sales by providing tailored responses to customer needs. Desk-based in Rotorua, the role also oversees the full process from inquiry to distribution, ensuring a smooth customer experience.
Key Responsibilities Proactively handle customer inquiries about hydraulic systems, offering innovative and technical sales solutions. Develop and maintain an expert-level understanding of hydraulic systems, components, and their industrial applications to provide expert advice and support. Manage the full sales process, including preparing detailed proposals, quotations, and cost estimates that meet customer specifications using pricing tools. Process sales orders and external purchase orders, ensuring clear communication with customers on status, pricing, and delivery. Coordinate distribution, including packing and shipping, to ensure accurate and timely product delivery. Build expertise in hydraulics products represented by IMG, becoming a subject matter expert (SME) in their applications and specifications. Serve as a technical consultant to both internal teams and external customers, delivering training and technical support when required. Work with the sales and operations teams to identify and capitalise on opportunities for business growth in new markets, customers, and industries. Actively promote and contribute to initiatives that support IMG's market positioning and sales growth. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) is required. Hold and maintain a current NZ driver's licence: Class/Endorsements. Proven experience in a technical sales role, ideally within the hydraulics industry or a related sector. Preferred Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and their applications. Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering customer-centric solutions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers. Ability to prepare and interpret technical proposals, drawings, and cost estimates. Demonstrated business development skills and strategic mindset for identifying growth opportunities.
