The Technical Director - Large Program Delivery is accountable for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) outcome of large transformative programmes of work and drives the development/implementation of scalable and secure systems, solutions, and infrastructure. These programmes of work are strategic and complex and generally impact more than one business unit. These programmes typically involve the delivery of integrated Application solutions with investments of over $20M.
The Technical Director, as part of the Applications Services leadership team, also contributes to the development and maintenance of the Application Services Strategy, with a focus on maintaining and building the capabilities of the Solution Architect, Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Operations Analyst practices through a combined consideration of people skills and behaviours, processes, and tools, plus technology plans to deliver the outcomes of the business.
What will you bring? With a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale, high profile, and strategic ICT projects, while also delivering results on time and within budget, you will also possess in-depth expertise in solution architecture across the ICT stack and in the Software Development Lifecycle and in the application of current development methodologies. Your expertise will be underpinned by a deep understanding of technology trends, best practices in software development/integration, infrastructure management, and cybersecurity best practices and NZ technology landscape.

Ability to translate business objectives into effective technology strategies.Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing technology teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights for informed decision-making.Commercial acumen, including experience negotiating contracts and managing outsourced vendors.Demonstrated financial acumen through budgeting and managing cost centre allocations and planning.Evidence of providing thought leadership and contributions to business projects and technology initiatives.Experience in the power/utilities sector would be advantageous as would:
A master's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.Relevant certifications such as ITIL, AWS/Azure, and/or TOGAF.Deep experience in Agile and DevOps methodologies for software development/delivery.It's exciting!
