Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role is part of the Senior Management Team, interacting closely with Production Supervisors and the wider compliance group. Your team comprises 13 direct reports, including on-site laboratory staff and one Environmental Officer. You will advise and support the plant to ensure compliance standards are maintained in quality, technical, OMAR, and environmental operations of the plant.
Interacting closely with Production Supervisors and the compliance group, you will lead auditing, verifications, and any corrective actions to close out with external providers and regulators.
The role relies on the team to deliver; the successful applicant must be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders in a positive and fostered learning environment.
Key outcomes of the position include:
Effectively manage the Plant technical and compliance teams.
Active member of the site Leadership Team.
Ensure the maintenance of hygienic product handling and processing methods.
Manage external and internal compliance verification audits.
Implement changes as required to Plant quality/compliance systems including but not limited to RMP, HACCP, and their associated policies and procedures, to ensure the plant meets customer, overseas market access, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain PBV Step 6 and champion the OOO program.
Ensure animal welfare compliance is maintained.
Manage constructive and effective relationships with government departments such as the Ministry of Primary Industries, AsureQuality, and their representatives on site.
Assist with the coordination and hosting of visits from customers and other interested parties.
Actively participate in the Manufacturing Excellence program.
Be an active part of the wider business technical group.

To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant New Zealand recognised tertiary qualification in Microbiology, Food Technology, or a related field.
Alongside this, you will have:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance and quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
A strong passion and drive for managing food safety, quality, environmental, and compliance systems.
Industry qualification in HACCP, animal welfare, and internal auditing.
Sound knowledge of all relevant food safety legislation.
Strong leadership skills with a passion for developing teams.
High attention to detail and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
The ability to work flexible hours, including some evening shifts or weekends as required.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software, i.e., Outlook, Excel, Word.
