The opportunity: Reporting to the Senior Investment Advisors, the Team Manager plays a key leadership role leveraging extensive industry experience to manage complex tasks, maintain high-value client relationships, and oversee the successful execution of projects. They will also act as a resource person for clients and assist Investment Advisors with administrative tasks and transaction processing related to managing client accounts. Additionally, the Team Manager will oversee and provide guidance to team members, monitor administrative responsibilities, support with strategic initiatives, and ensure compliance with industry regulations by CIRO while contributing to the overall success of the business.
Key responsibilities include: People Management:Provide direction, guidance, and support to team members by setting clear expectations, defining and meeting goals, and motivating team members.Oversee that daily operations, ongoing projects and client services run smoothly. Prioritize tasks, assign responsibilities, and manage workload distribution amongst team members.Ensure administrative responsibilities are completed, including following up with team members and auditing client profiles.Identify areas for training and development, provide feedback to lead Investment Advisors and lead initiatives with other advisor team members.Lead training for Advisor team members.Support the implementation of strategic people-initiatives as directed by lead Advisors.Relationship Management & Client Consultation:Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through regular communication, responsiveness, and proactive support.Address client inquiries, concerns, and service requests in a timely and professional manner.Act as a resource person for clients (i.e., generating specialized reports, questions about specific products, etc.).Manage and oversee complex tasks and maintain key client relationships to ensure high-quality service and successful project outcomes.Work with lead Advisors to develop and distribute client communication and marketing pieces, including social media and client events.Process unsolicited trades and provide quotes.Process a variety of transactions (ex: issuing cheques, deposits, contributions and withdrawals, incoming and outgoing transfers).Account processing (converting RRSP to RRIF, setting up RRIF payments, estates, beneficiary updates, etc.).Stay up to date on a wide range of investment products available in the Canadian market, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, and alternative investments.Assist in preparing advisors for client meetings, including preparation of account opening documentation, product research, etc.Commit to rigorous follow up relating to all client transactions to ensure proper processing and minimization of errors.Compliance & Research:Maintain client files, ensuring that all documentation and notes are compliant with industry regulations.Keep abreast of policy and procedure changes within the firm and industry.Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards, including IIROC rules, securities legislation, and Know Your Client (KYC) requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation of client transactions and communications.The ideal candidate will possess: A degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.5-8 years' financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment.3+ years' experience in a customer/client-service facing role.3+ years in a team leadership/management facing role.Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.IIROC licensing requirements, including completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) as well as active registration as an Investment Representative (IR) or Registered Representative (RR) with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is considered an asset.A commitment to fulfilling Continuing Education (CE) requirements.Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook.Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.Commitment to ethical conduct and integrity in all client interactions.Excellent attitude and commitment to providing extraordinary service.Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).An ability to lead, inspire, motivate, and guide team members towards achieving common goals, while also fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify issues, develop solutions, and make timely decisions to resolve client and team-related challenges.Effective prioritization and organizational skills to manage workload, meet deadlines, and ensure optimal utilization of resources.An ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.Responsive service-oriented mindset with unquestioned integrity.A willingness to adapt to new technology or innovative ways of doing things.Seeks to find a better way and deliver a consistently positive client and team working experience.A high tolerance for change; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities.Conditions of employment: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant prior to commencing employment.Wellington-Altus Private Wealth is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community and welcomes applications from women, racialized persons, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and genders.
