Job Description We are seeking an experienced Truck Repair and Maintenance Team Leader to join our friendly team and work in our workshop facility, based in East Tamaki, Auckland.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Truck Workshop afternoon shift team.
The team carry out the in-house preventive maintenance and repairs of our fleet vehicles, associated equipment, conduct inspections, servicing and repairing of our company vehicles, units, and equipment to maximise operational availability.
The role requires you to manage the team's safety, workmanship quality, labour productivity and efficiency and to ensure all scheduled and planned works are completed on time to maximise on overall fleet availability.
Your key responsibilities will include: Manage the day-to-day activities and be the go-to person for the truck workshop afternoon shift team Ensure high quality and high percentages of labour and efficiencies output including managing absenteeism such as annual/sick leave etc Conducting regular technical inspections (auditing), servicing, repairs, and support associated reporting Working closely with the maintenance Inventory Controller always ensuring availability of parts and associated consumables Daily checks of all Vehicle Workshop tooling and equipment for serviceability and accountability Maximize and maintain truck fleet availability Provide regular updates to operational supervisors on repairs and maintenance of fleet Always promoting and maintaining safe practices Supporting the Workshop Supervisor where required Qualifications To be successful in this role you will have: A National Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical with proven experience in maintenance of heavy fleet trucks including hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance Experience in managing a team of approx.
seven staff members or more Exceptional attitude and support to high levels of H&S practices Demonstrated good leadership skills Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) would be an advantage.
Ideally hold Class 4 Driver's licence (not essential) We are looking for a true team leader who can drive a positive health and safety culture, and lead by example.
You will demonstrate mechanical aptitude with excellent time management alongside effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
