This work will support policy development, implementation and inform responses to environmental issues across this large and diverse region.Our science is strongly linked with national research programmes and the information gathered contributes to cutting-edge regional and national research programmes.This permanent full-time position, based in Palmerston North, is part of the Science team.About youThe successful candidate will have previous experience in freshwater science and a proven ability to lead people. You should have a good understanding of the Resource Management Act and National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management. You will also have:Leadership skills that enable collaboration with the team.Proven success in interpreting and communicating scientific information in an engaging and informative way.An understanding of Matauranga Maori, the Treaty of Waitangi, and tikanga (and Te Reo ability), or willingness to learn.Experience in lake, estuary or coastal water quality is desirable.If you enjoy a challenge and believe you have what it takes to succeed in this exciting new role, we want to hear from you!About usThe Horizons region extends over 22,200km2 – from Ruapehu in the north and Horowhenua in the south, to Whanganui in the west and Tararua in the east.
