The Team Leader, HR Advisory sits within Customs' Human Resources Service Delivery (HRSD) team. HRSD works with business units across Customs to provide fit for purpose, pragmatic and customer focused advice and solutions that are aligned to the strategic direction of Customs.
About this role | Mo tenei turanga mahi The Team Leader Human Resources manages, develops and leads a team of HR professionals in the provision of high-quality advice and guidance that supports managers to make strategic people decisions and manage tactical and operational people issues as they arise. They are a key member of the HR Service Delivery leadership team and the wider People and Capability group, and operate as a key advisor and resource for senior leaders across Customs. You'll be responsible for:
Leading the HR Advisory team to facilitate the achievement of objectives Managing individual performance, setting objectives, measuring and reviewing performance Coaching and mentoring team members, ensuring their skills are kept up to date, and promoting career and personal development Partnering with managers to support shaping of people strategies, goals and priorities Identifying ways service delivery models can be improved to provide a greater focus on efficiency and effectiveness Leading and contributing to the creation and implementation of fit for purpose frameworks, policies and tools Building and maintaining effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders Creating a supportive environment that promotes bi-culturalism and responsiveness to Maori issues. About you | Ko wai koe To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
Significant experience in HR management across the spectrum of people practices and functions Proven ability to lead teams to successful outcomes while maintaining strong engagement levels Well-developed knowledge of HR best practice methods Demonstrated success in delivering quality business advice to key stakeholders Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance A tertiary qualification at least equivalent to Bachelors level in HR Management, Organisation Development or similar academic discipline is desirable. a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 10 years and resides in NZ at time of application; OR
a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 10 years and resides in NZ at the time of application. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service. The successful applicant will also be required to pass a drug test as well as being subject to random, ongoing drug tests during their period of employment with Customs.
