An exciting opportunity to join NZ Customs as a Team Leader Finance Business Partnership is now available. This role is a full-time permanent position based in either our Auckland or Wellington Customhouse. About this role Mo tenei turanga mahi The role of the Finance Business Partnership Team is to assist budget managers across the organisation to use Customs financial resources efficiently, and to realise any opportunities, or manage any risks if they arise. You will be responsible for leading the budget and forecast process for the organisation as well as financial reporting for the executive team. The role will also involve implementing new processes and working to increase the financial capability of budget managers. The Team Leader Finance Business Partnership will achieve their objectives by providing leadership and strategic direction to the team of Finance Business Partners. You will set a clear strategic direction for the team and implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve Customs' financial management. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, their work, and deadlines. To be successful as Team Leader Finance Business Partnership, the appointee requires the following knowledge, experience, skills, qualifications and/or personal attributes: A tertiary qualification (at least equivalent to Bachelors) in finance or a relevant discipline, and preferably membership of CAANZ as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent (i.e. CPA, CIMA). Strong finance business partnering experience and the ability to influence executive and senior leaders. Proven experience using financial systems in multi-disciplinary environments. Approachable and open operating style with a 'can do' attitude and desire to achieve workable solutions that effectively balance the needs of all key stakeholders within the organisation. Significant experience in presenting technical ideas, information, and advice, orally and in writing to all key stakeholders in a way that suits the audience. An ability to integrate complex relationships and information involving both financial and non-financial indicators for a range of customers in a large and diverse organisation. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead, motivate and develop a focused group of professional specialists and provide staff with a clear sense of direction and purpose to deliver results. Demonstrated experience in service excellence through continuous improvement, innovative approaches, and a customer-centric approach to issues. This means: a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at the time of application; OR a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident who has resided in New Zealand for the last 5 years and resides in NZ at the time of application. You may have been absent from New Zealand for periods of six or more months within the past five years, preferably in one or more of the following countries: either Australia, Canada, UK or the USA. You will be required to provide overseas police certificates for these periods spent outside of New Zealand. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level. Due to the nature of Customs work, you must have a clear Police record. The successful applicant will also be required to pass a drug test.
