We are motivated by ensuring we are a district of connected communities who thrive and embrace opportunities.ABOUT THE ROLE - NGA AHUATANGA O TE TURANGAThis role supports the delivery of external and internal communications that consistently reinforce the organisational activities, culture, and the reputation of Council. You will inspire, lead, and motivate a team of communications advisors and content creators working alongside the organisation to connect Council with its communities. You will ensure a proactive and innovative communications approach that delivers timely, open, and transparent information for all audiences.WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MATOU I TENEI MOMO TANGATATo be successful in this role, you will have communications, people leadership, and media management experience alongside a collaborative approach that sees you easily engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be politically astute, structured, deadline-focused, and a true problem-solver who is adept at advising on, and developing, communications and media strategies and plans. You'll need the flexibility to be available on an on-call basis and will bring:Demonstrated effective leadership experience in a relevant fieldStrong communication skills; written and verbalAn exceptional eye for detailExperience working with mediaBreadth of experience across communications platformsSound judgement and decision-making skillsAbility to manage conflict, have difficult conversations, and build positive working relationshipsStrong awareness of tikanga Maori and te reo MaoriWHAT WE OFFER - NGA AHUATANGA KEI A MATOUThis role is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of creative and motivated communications professionals who care for and support each other and have a shared passion to do their best for the Taupo District and its communities.
