ABOUT THE ROLE - NGA AHUATANGA O TE TURANGA
This role supports the delivery of external and internal communications that consistently reinforce the organisational activities, culture, and the reputation of Council. You will inspire, lead, and motivate a team of communications advisors and content creators working alongside the organisation to connect Council with its communities. You will ensure a proactive and innovative communications approach that delivers timely, open, and transparent information for all audiences.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MATOU I TENEI MOMO TANGATA
To be successful in this role, you will have communications, people leadership, and media management experience alongside a collaborative approach that sees you easily engage with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will be politically astute, structured, deadline-focused, and a true problem-solver who is adept at advising on, and developing, communications and media strategies and plans. You'll need the flexibility to be available on an on-call basis and will bring:
Demonstrated effective leadership experience in a relevant field
Strong communication skills; written and verbal
An exceptional eye for detail
Experience working with media
Breadth of experience across communications platforms
Sound judgement and decision-making skills
Ability to manage conflict, have difficult conversations, and build positive working relationships
Strong awareness of tikanga Maori and te reo Maori
