This established tax advisory firm in Ponsonby is expanding its team and looking for an experienced Tax Principal with over 10 years of specialized tax experience. If you're a problem-solver with expertise in New Zealand and international tax law, this role offers you the chance to lead in a high-impact, intellectually challenging position.
Key Service Areas:
Complex Taxation Solutions : Solve detailed tax issues, focusing on high-level advisory for both domestic and international businesses.
Dispute Resolution and Advocacy : Handle Inland Revenue disputes, including audits, voluntary disclosures, and representation up to the TRA and High Court.
International Taxation : Advise on FIFs, CFCs, foreign pensions, offshore structures, and dual residency issues.
Trust and Business Advisory : Provide expertise in trust law, handle business and share valuations, and act as an expert witness, especially in litigation and property matters.
Education and Presentations : Lead in-house training, client seminars, and webinars to share knowledge and build client relationships.
Binding Rulings : Prepare or review IRD binding rulings for clients.
About the Role:
As a Senior Tax Principal, you will:
Deliver high-quality tax consulting engagements, focusing on complex issues and providing clients with effective, solution-based tax advice.
Lead tax research and analysis, prepare comprehensive tax opinions, and provide proactive client relationship management.
Play a pivotal role in resolving IRD disputes and representing clients in high-stakes situations.
Present in-house training, lead seminars, and participate in webinars, ensuring both clients and team members are kept informed on critical tax topics.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are seeking a seasoned professional who is motivated, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative setting. Key attributes include:
Expertise : 10+ years in tax advisory, with a Chartered Accountant or legal background and extensive knowledge of New Zealand tax legislation.
Communication Skills : Ability to present complex tax matters in clear, concise language, with strong written and verbal skills.
Research and Analytical Skills : Skilled in legislative interpretation and confident in delivering well-supported tax opinions.
Client Engagement : Able to build strong relationships, identify value-added opportunities, and deliver timely, high-quality service.
