The role is based in the Queenstown office - we offer remote working, but you need to be able to come to the office regularly. Occasional travel to Auckland, NZ or the Gold Coast, AUS may be required.

Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Implementation: Design, build, and support solutions across 365, Azure, Endpoint Security platforms and other connected technologies, including hardware.
Systems Management & Optimization: Stay ahead by monitoring updates and optimizing business processes. Adhere to and promote best practices and design the guidelines for security procedures.
Lead or participate in projects to upgrade or replace existing business systems.
Monitor performance of business systems, ensuring high availability and responsiveness - respond to and resolve system failures or outages.
Troubleshooting: Provide day-to-day administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance for the core Business Systems.
Continuous Improvement: Champion feedback, and collaborative teamwork to foster growth and resilience. Provide technical specifications and help maintain overall documentation for the business.

Success in this role
This role is a crucial participant of our mission to improve the health of medicine. This is a brand-new role, you will work closely with our various business functions, identifying their needs and providing technology solutions that will enable them to operate more efficiently and effectively.
You will help the design, development, and deployment of enhancements and updates to our various platforms in conjunction with the Senior Systems Engineer. You'll also provide ongoing support and training to colleagues in the IT team to ensure they are maximizing the technology capabilities.
Skills and competencies:
This role requires a solid understanding of Microsoft 365 and Azure platform, features, and functions, particularly in security, administration, and endpoint protection. We do not have any on-prem server hardware, and work extensively across cloud, PaaS and SaaS models.
The candidate should possess strong experience in a "cloud-first" environment and the setup, deployment, and support of Entra ID, Intune, SSO/SCIM and Defender and other 3rd party security platforms. A long with robust understanding of IT security and cybersecurity practices.
They will be responsible for training, coaching, and providing direct support to users as needed, while also demonstrating excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. Problem-solving abilities, autonomy, critical thinking, and a willingness to learn and adapt are essential.
The role involves managing relationships, both internal and external, and understanding the relationship between cloud platforms, software development and security principles.
Qualifications and experience:
You should ideally possess a qualification in IT, computer science, business or a related field or equivalent practical experience as a Systems Engineer delivering outcomes across Microsoft 365 in a "cloud-first" environment.
You should have a strong understanding of security best practices and functionality in a Microsoft environment, and 3rd party MDR tools.
Microsoft Certification preferred (Azure Administrator Associate, Security Engineer Associate, Information Protection and Compliance Administrator, Modern Desktop Administrator etc.).
