Our System Controllers play a critical role here at PowerNet and are responsible for ensuring the network is effectively and reliably operated to ensure our employee's, contractors and public safety is maintained at all times with our System Control room manned 24/7. We serve over 75,000 customers and at PowerNet, our people are committed to providing safe, efficient and reliable supply of electricity to businesses and communities across the lower South Island. We are an industry leader and as such, our progression and innovation are at the forefront of our business, where we are committed to learning more about emerging technologies and the impact this will have on our customers, communities and network. This role is for a permanent full-time position working rostered shifts. You need to have: Experience or knowledge of SCADA, permit management and ensuring quality of supply. At least three years' relevant network control room work experience. Accurate recording of operating data Experienced in or have an understanding of managing faults response, planned and unplanned network outages and directing switching operations. NZ certificate in Electricity Supply Level 3 – Field Switching or an equivalent overseas qualification is preferred. Attainment of or ability to study towards the NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Network Operator) Experience in the Electricity Supply/Generation industry would be an advantage. Solid communication skills, both verbal and written Analytical and methodical Be able to work under pressure and stay calm. Be adaptable to a changing environment where no two days are the same. Have the ability to assess risk and put controls in place to protect people, equipment and the environment.
