About the role:
Do you have "good hands"? We are offering a full-time opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Synthetic Biology team as a Research Technician. You will work in a friendly and supportive lab environment with other scientists and technicians to help develop mainly synthetic biology techniques for generating high yields of our proprietary pesticidal secondary metabolites. Projects will utilise molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, and fermentation capability. You will also contribute to general lab management, as required.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment, perform scientific experiments to a high standard, be self-driven, proactive, able to follow procedures accurately and meet deadlines in a multi-tasking environment, and willing to learn new skills.
Minimum qualifications and experience:
Honours or master's degree in molecular biology or related field with at least 2 years' related experience, ideally working in projects involving expression of biosynthetic pathways or other proteins in microbes.
Experience in bacterial genetics and genome sequence analysis.
Experience in molecular biology and microbiology techniques. You should be able to "clone anything" and demonstrate expertise with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, microbial culture and transformation.
Experience working in a PC2 laboratory.
Familiar and engaged with quality control, health & safety, and containment requirements in laboratories.
Good data analysis and reporting skills.
Understanding of relevant statistical analyses.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
