We operate the country's southern-most commercial deep water port, providing port logistics and warehousing solutions to southern exporters and importers on a year-round 24/7 basis. Our Infrastructure and Environmental Team is responsible for providing and maintaining land, sea, and wharf infrastructure associated with port operations, and ensuring port operational practices comply with safety and environmental standards.
The Sustainability and Climate Advisor will play a key role providing strategic evidence-based analysis and advice to support the company's sustainability and climate change response, and will work collaboratively with other key partners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage sustainability initiatives
Take the lead in preparing CRD and GHG emissions inventory to ensure compliance with the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards
Advise on environmental risks and opportunities (including those related to climate change and natural capital), performance, compliance and oversight arising from port operations
Champion a culture of awareness of sustainability issues
Skills and Experience Required: 3-5 years' experience working in an environmental management role
A deep understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues
Able to understand complex data, distil key messages and provide objective, valid, and considered advice for decision-makers
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and advocate for change in the status quo
Experience leading and delivering complex policy work programmes
