We are looking for an outgoing, friendly person who is capable of looking after our Sushi/Bento Department to ensure that we provide St. Pierre's Experience!

Job Description:
The Shift Manager is required to take on any managerial roles in any department to fill a vacancy of manager position. The manager may be required to oversee multiple manager positions. The person is required to regularly and customarily exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of any department.

In particular, a majority of time is spent as a hands-on operator to ensure smooth operation in all the key functions of the department including product preparation, merchandising display, as well as serving our customers.

Responsibilities include:

Supervising and directing the department staff, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, staffing, and scheduling).

Ensuring customer satisfaction and the highest product quality.

Management of inventory, stock, financial performance, and safety and security regulations within the store.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of St. Pierre's Shift Manager include but are not limited to the following. While the Shift Manager is expected to perform all tasks at a time, they should be ready to carry out tasks to suit St. Pierre's changing needs.

Operation Management

Planning and organizing sales budgets.

Communicating with chefs and other staff members to ensure that all team members understand information related to department operations.

Managing food preparation, production displays, and appearance.

Handling customer requests with other staff.

Setting up target daily/weekly sales and encouraging staff to achieve them.

Merchandising

Being involved in planning and pricing dishes in consultation with management, chefs, and other service staff.

Customer Service Management

Greeting customers and taking orders and reservations.

Organizing functions when required.

Ensuring customer service is maintained at all times.

Planning, determining, and reviewing customer services and procedures.

Being involved in developing customer service policies for the operation.

Hiring, Training, and Disciplining

Interviewing candidates to assess their skill level and work ethics to decide on employment.

Instructing and advising service staff to understand St. Pierre's Mission and guiding them to enable each staff member to offer 'St. Pierre's Experience' to guests.

Staffing and Scheduling

Planning and organizing shift schedules to suit the budget.

Understanding the work orders of each staff in service, kitchen, and food preparation divisions to optimize the efficiency of the store operation.

Monitoring, supervising, and providing feedback and advice to other staff to improve customer service and food quality levels.

Inventory and Stock Management

Arranging orders to hold sufficient stock levels to operate the business.

Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions including checking out and cashing up.

Managing Financial Performance

Cashing up, recording, and reporting daily sales to the head office at the end of the day.

Managing Safety and Security

Being involved in planning and implementing the Food Control Plan according to the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) and local regulations.

Ensuring dining production service facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional, and of suitable appearance.

This is a permanent full-time position (over 30 hours per week); however, your hours and days of work may vary, so applicants must be reasonably flexible with time.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Experience analyzing financial reports.

Experience in a complex fast-paced environment.

Knowledge and/or skills in business management.

Relevant work experience for 3 years or more, or equivalent qualification.

The successful applicants will have an outgoing personality, some knowledge of Japanese food, be well presented, and enjoy being kept busy in our quick service Japanese restaurant/takeout store.

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
