For over 30 years SILC has been supporting people with disabilities to live a life of their choosing – a life full of opportunities, friendships and experiences.
We walk alongside the people we support to facilitate a sense of belonging and independence. About the Role: As a Support Worker with SILC, you will be responsible for assisting the people that we support to gain as much independence as possible.
We have roles available in both our Residential Support Services Team (RSS) and Supported Independent Living Services Team (SILS).
There are part-time and full-time roles available in multiple locations across Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, and Te Puke.
RSS - You will work in a diverse team, supporting people with their individual plans and goals.
You will take an interest in the lives of the people we support and will assist them to connect with their community in activities of their interest.
You will promote independence in the home by providing support with meal preparation, household tasks and personal cares.
SILS - The people who use SILC services are supported to gain greater independence in their day-to-day life and be part of their community.
Most people are looking for help with living a full life, making friends, going places, enjoying hobbies, and focusing on their wellbeing.
This role will involve travel within the Tauranga area and includes reimbursement for mileage.
For this role, you will need to: Ideally have a Level 3 Certificate in Health & Wellbeing but this is not essential, as you will be supported to gain this qualification while you work.Be a good communicator, patient and calmHave sound written and verbal communication skillsBe able to work day shifts across the week and/or on a roster which includes sleepoversFull New Zealand Driver LicenceBe competent to drive a range of company vehicles including mobility vansIn return, we offer: The chance to make a difference in the lives of othersThe opportunity to gain your Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Health & Wellbeing plus further opportunities to progress your careerOngoing training and supportPay rates (defined by the Pay Equity) from $23.38 to $29.10 (dependent on your qualifications) plus paid time for sleepover work.Being a support worker is meaningful mahi.

You must be eligible to work in New Zealand and will need to meet police vetting requirements.
