The Christchurch City Council Parks team is excited to be growing and we want you to be part of our Whanau. As a Supervisor, you will be leading one of our Parks and Gardens Maintenance Teams who are responsible for delivering a wide range of parks maintenance activities across our community parks.

Working within the community, you will be exposed to the diverse cultures and beliefs that are within Christchurch. This involves being open-minded and respectful to all that visit these special places. This role will be based at one of our new Depots based in Wigram or Bromley. The hours of work are 7:30am - 4pm.

If you are an enthusiastic outdoors person that enjoys variety in your job and is happy to muck in and help, you'll fit right in. You will have a love for parks and gardens with a specific focus on Amenity Horticulture. You will have a relevant qualification or a strong background in landscaping, gardening, and general maintenance, as well as leadership experience.
You will be supervising and working with a multidisciplinary team and organizing the following duties:
Push Mowing
Ride on mowing
Spraying
Weeding
Hedge trimming
Planting
Line trimming
Emptying bins
BBQ and water fountain cleans
You will be a people person with an optimistic outlook, with the flexibility to be involved in activities across the unit to address demand in department or area workloads. Building and maintaining relationships will come naturally to you, not only with your peers within the parks unit but across diverse community groups that reside within the city.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of five years' experience in a similar environment, ideally with a minimum of two years in a leadership role.
Full driver's license.
A minimum of level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent, or extensive experience in a similar role.
Experience in mower operation, weed control, and general gardening practices.
A Grow Safe qualification and/or a Traffic management ticket/qualifications (desirable).
