Our Summer Student Programme provides a fantastic opportunity for final-year high school students and 1st/2nd-year university students to gain valuable work experience in Local Government. The 9-week paid internship runs from 25 November to 7 February, with a two-week break over Christmas. During this time, students will be immersed in a specific area of the council, working on real projects that support the community and enhance their skills. Placements are available in the following departments: Arts, Culture & Heritage Digital Services Assets Planning Infrastructure Network Team Community Engagement Heritage & Planning Infrastructure Operations People & Capability Students will be placed in one area for the entire 9 weeks, allowing for a deep dive into day-to-day operations and project work.
