Strictly Hunting is a Twizel based company that takes pride in professional management of pest animals. We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable staff member to lead the execution of an exciting collaborative project, part funded by MPI's Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures (SFFF) initiative. The Position As the Project Lead, you will play a critical role in the delivery and execution of the work plan. You will: Hold a good level of technical expertise of the tools available including skills and experience using GPS, night vision and thermal technology. Be a highly competent, successful, and efficient hunter with knowledge of animal behaviour. Have good communication & relationship building skills. Have good record keeping skills. Be confident allocating work to the team (including yourself) on both a medium term (month-by-month) or a shorter term (day-by-day) basis, with the purpose to successfully execute the overall project plan. Have a proven background in similar roles or in executing similar projects. The Project The Integrated Pest Control Project will work with landowners and Landcare Research to determine the commercial viability of an alternative to traditional pest management options such as toxins. We will work with Landcare to split properties into blocks which will be controlled and monitored to determine the shooting frequency required. Wherever possible, the carcasses will be collected and sold for pet food, therefore providing a better value-for-money option for landowners managing rabbit populations, as well as an economic benefit to the NZ pet food industry. Excellent knowledge of firearm care, safety, and laws. The following are desirable but not essential as training can be provided: NZQA units in ATV, LUV and 4WD use. First aid certificate. Controlled Substance Licence. Previous experience with GPS, handheld recording devices and record keeping.
