Type: Permanent Full-Time We are looking for an experienced Stock Manager to join our awesome team, working across 360ha of irrigated land and 1,450ha of the beautiful TEKOA Range. This role is focused on breeding and managing our Angus herd, raising our own replacements, and breeding bulls from our Hereford cows for Te Whenua Hou. We also finish our own steers and any heifers that do not make it to the bull. Reporting to the Farming Manager, you will play a vital role in managing livestock, working with a dedicated team, and utilizing modern technology to support farm operations. You will assist with staff management and ensure the productivity and profitability of the farm, with a strong emphasis on animal health and welfare. As the Stock Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of livestock, ensuring the health, welfare, and productivity of our herds. Your expertise will include genetics, animal husbandry, pasture management, feed budgeting and planning, fencing, water and nutrient management, and supporting strategic initiatives to drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Overseeing various stock classes, mustering, coordinating movements, condition scoring, and keeping records. Optimizing pasture production, re-grassing paddocks, and implementing cropping policies. Monitoring health, administering treatments, handling Ag-Chem products safely, and maintaining records. Overseeing daily livestock operations, including feeding, health monitoring, and breeding programs. Ensuring high standards of animal welfare and compliance with industry regulations. Maintaining equipment, managing pests, general farm maintenance, and using vehicles effectively. Leading a high-performing team, training junior staff, participating in performance discussions, and committing to cultural leadership and safety. Leading safe work practices, complying with policies, recording incidents, and identifying hazards. Minimum Requirements: At least 4-5 years of experience in the farming sector. 2-3 years' experience in strong stock management and animal husbandry skills. Hold a Level 3 certificate in Agriculture (Sheep/Beef) is desirable. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. High personal standards of integrity, discipline, and attention to detail. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices. Understanding of, or eagerness to learn, Ngai Tahu values and cultural practices. Have a minimum of a restricted NZ drivers' licence.
